ruminating…
Well, here I am desperately trying to get a bit of head space. You know, just that space to think. Not easy after the last few days, during which my two loverly babies were struck ill with Swine Flu, risking my yummy partner Lorraine and her as yet unborn infant. Yes! H1N1 decided to pay us a visit and the whole experience has left me feeling a little ‘half cocked’. It’s not just the worry that the media have built into the prospect of contracting this not-at-all-so-final - for most mortals - flu, which you have to keep very secret least the person you are looking to for support believes you to be the doctor death herself and breaks down right before you, it’s the bizarre, verging on insane, behaviour that some of those associated with you can engage in when face with news that frightens them. People, even good people, can be extremely weird sometimes and this is not something that I like having rubbed in my face. So, under the bright buzzed out glo of the neon kitchen light and the almost dawn of the dead metal music that the f***** up Frankenstein of a washing machine grinds out like some sort of crushed terminator whilst only on the tumble cycle mind - what Indesit laughing call a repair - I have taken to doing what I love almost as much as life itself and engaged in… music! I rammed earphones hard into my earholes and listened to a random mix of stuff discovered surfing among the millions of music blogs in the byte-o-sphere. It’s working. I feel somewhat refreshed and rejuvenated. I can concentrate, well a bit anyway. The ugly ambient sounds of the day and my cyclic brainwaves have been drowned out just enough for them to not impinge on my consciousness and I have regained a teeny weeny little bit of… me! Yey!
Some things that helped…
